Wish – A Musical Adventure

Important Note

“Wish” is currently undergoing a major revision to premiere at the Georgetown Palace in Spring 2018. The new version will be about an hour long and feature 6 performers and a significantly different story/book.

If you are interested, the latest revision of the new script is here. It’s a work in progress and will potentially change once we begin the rehearsal process but this version is posted for those auditioning or just curious!

An all-original story.

“Wish” is a new musical play that celebrates the American Experience with a highly theatrical storytelling style combining the magic, music and optimism of films like The Wizard of Oz and Mary Poppins with the action, adventure and modern mythological storytelling of Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

It imagines a “Once Upon a Time” America of 100 years ago, a mythical place where the bold scientific discoveries and inventions of the era meet magic, superstition and wonder. It concerns the magical and perilous journey of young Samantha Major who journeys from East Coast to West to find and possibly save her father, the brilliant inventor, Tom Major.

  • Number of Performers: 12 (8 men/4 women)
  • Other Production Requirements: Although WISH is written as a rollicking adventure spectacle, it is also designed to be produced simply and using the unique qualities of stagecraft. Puppets, shadows, found objects, actor-manipulated stage effects, sounds and lights, and all the "suspension of disbelief" tools may be brought to bear upon the script. From a design and production standpoint, WISH is intended to be as complex or as subtle as you desire, with the purpose being the sharing of an action-oriented story (filled with songs, incidental music, and humor) with a live audience.
